Welcome to True North Nutrition! I’m Dianna, here to guide and support you on your journey.
As a registered dietitian with over two decades of experience guiding university students as well as people of all ages toward a healthier relationship with food and body, I’ve felt a nudge in recent years to meander from my usual path to let the Lord use me to accompany those He might lead to this faith-based space.
I decided to launch True North Nutrition as a landing spot especially for Catholics seeking a faith-based approach to nutrition and body image. (not Catholic? No worries! All faiths and denominations are welcome here!) As a cradle Catholic I’ve experienced my own journey growing in the faith – and all it’s twists and turns navigating real world influences that can impact how we view and care for our bodies. With an overwhelming array of voices calling out to us –promising we can reach the summit of ‘eating and body perfection’ — it’s so easy to wander off path and lose direction.
So here we are! I’ve had some ‘life happens’ stuff that has literally knocked me off my long-awaited path to launch True North…..including a shoulder fracture from a misstep in deep snow on a hike in early 2025 leading to complications and a longggg recovery ☹)
I’m not as far along as I had hoped to be before officially launching, but with much prayer, have decided to surrender my usual perfectionistic aim and let the Holy Spirit lead the way.
Summit #1: I’m a minimalist when it comes to social media (more to come in future posts about the concept of ‘enough’) so the destination is not to overwhelm with content. We all have enough of that! My hope is to serve as a guide to meaningful content integrating sound nutrition and Christian/Catholic beliefs, and to help ponder right ordered nutrition that nourishes purpose in Christ rather than distracting from it.
Summit #2: This is NOT spiritual direction! Let’s leave that to the called & qualified. Rather, I view this as an opportunity to use my nutrition expertise to guide the human formation side of things (to help apply nutritional self-care in a way that supports faith journeys rather than distracting from them….) and to help inform your nutrition and body image choices with a whole-person, body and soul mindset.
Summit #3: Let’s find out, by journeying together, what you are truly hungry for. True North is here to help you shine a light on ways to nourish your body that can guide you to the true and lasting gifts of freedom in Christ.
“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” ~ John 6:35. WHAT ARE YOU HUNGRY FOR?
Blessed to join you on this journey, Dianna
